Mumbles, near Swansea
A little gem of a place. We parked as soon as we could and took a leisurely stroll along the sea front. There is a cafe/ice cream parlour where we sat and watched the sailors getting their dinghies ready as the tide came in. Behind us, lots of really good pubs and restaurants. We passed the pier and then it all changed to small sandy coves surrounded by rocks and even an occasional cave. Great for all the family without being too commercialised.

Great beach, fun town
7 miles of clean sandy beaches, the best seaside town in the UK without a doubt. Great bars, clubs, nightlife. Plenty of hotels/ B&Bs etc. Watersports in summer. After London it is the 2nd UK city for foreign students learning English. Very clean & friendly town! (Dont bother with Brighton or Southend- very dirty, overpriced, horrible beaches and run down).

Windsor Castle
Windsor Castle is very impressive, its huge and its setting is fantastic. We spent the day wandering around the castle and then took the walk along the Royal Mile. This was very pretty. We then made our way round the Windsor pubs, they were quaint little pubs. Windsor is lovely but dont expect a cheap pint.

Bedford
Bedford is a lovely little market town. The river Ouse flows through the town and this makes the embankment area particularly attractive, especially during summer. Bedford is famous for a number of historical events, including: John Bunyan who wrote Pilgrims Progress whilst incarcerated there. Bedfordshire is full of pretty little villages, and secret nooks and crannies, such as: Swiss Garden, Woburn Abbey & Wildlife Park and Wipesnade Zoo. The area has lovely accommodation, such as: Th....

Beverley
Small, unspoilt market town. Main attractions are Beverley Minster, widely acclaimed as the most attractive non-cathedral church in Europe, and pretty St. Mary's Church, which features a carving that inspired Lewis Carroll. Good nightlife with lots of traditional pubs serving local brews at good prices. Sports venues include a racecourse and a golf course. Handily placed between Hull and York and the Yorkshire coast-only 60kms from Scarborough. Visit Beverley and see something ....

Lynton
This is a small hillside village, at the top there is Lynton and down below the hillside at sea level there is Lynmouth. Both are very pretty tourist villages. There is plenty of walks and things to do for all ages. There is a fanastic little cliff railway that joins the 2 villages together. We did the walk to Watersmeet and this walk was spectular and very enjoyable, nice slopes and not to many big hills etc. Loads of places to stay and eat, if going for a long weekend you may need to book ....

cheap vegetarian food
The best baked potato shop in the world - affordable, huge baked potatoes, whole menu is vegetarian and much of it also vegan. Mostly takeaway but has a small table, gets packed out in summer. Close enough to Princes St gardens that you can buy your spud and go to the gardens to eat it (Scottish weather allowing). Open lunch - early evening.

Streatley YHA
It's located in a very nice old house and is clean and comfortable. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Streatley is a pretty little town with loads of walking tracks including the ridgeway path that dates back thousands of years.
