Australias best (and Most Humane) Zoo ! See a huge variety of Animals, in a beautiful uncaged setting. A small pair of binoculars are handy as the animals are given a good space to roam in. Be sure to wear your best safari suit ! Hire a bicycle, golf cart or simply drive your own car around the large zoo.

How does this zoo differ from the Open Range Zoo at Werribee in Melbourne? I think they're both pretty much the same thing aren't they?

Western Plains Zoo is fantastic. I've visited many times and make time any time we are driving through for a visit. The exhibits are set in excellent surroundings and you can walk, bicycle or drive around. Those who drive do miss out though and the bicycle is the way. Easy peddling and cheap to hire. - The Australian wild life is free to roam the zoo grounds, I asked the attendant " can't the roos jump into the Tiger enclosure?" he said " Happens all the time, we don't feed the tigers that day" Re the comment on Werribee, Dubbo is much more extensive than the werribee zoo in melbourne but a lot further away from the city.
